I'm back! Hope everyone had a most lovely weekend! The other day I shared my August through to October project life pages and today is all about November and December. To be honest, November was a bit of a wash. We had so much going on that month I only have one page to show for it, but what a page it is! ;-)
Sometimes life gets busy, really busy, and I'm a live first - document second kind of person which is probably why I only have one page to show for November. You never want to let documenting life take away from living it. If you need a break from it for a couple of days, weeks, or even months - do it! Documenting should never feel like a chore or take away from spending meaningful time with your family and friends. Finding the right balance is so important!
Even though I only got one page to show for November my December more than makes up for it! I was totally camera happy that month and really in the mood to document everything. Sometimes you just have a month like that!
My first page for December is an overview of the month and focuses on highlighting some of our routines like our morning green shakes, the arrive of Christmas Bell (our Elf on the Shelf), our evening ritual of having a hot chocolate, and so on. Sometimes it's those little things that make looking back on your PL pages so interesting.
I made a total of 5 pages for December which is a record for me. It probably has a lot to do with the fact that I love Christmas and how can you not be in the mood to take plenty of pictures when your house is all decked out in the holiday spirit.
Even though December was another busy month, okay...what month isn't busy?! my hubby was home a lot for the holiday break. I think with him being around so much more allowed me the time to pick up the camera more and really enjoy capturing those little moments.
This next page pretty much focuses on what the house looked like over the holiday month and of course a winter shot because boy-ole-boy was it a cold winter December to remember!
A lot of people opt to do a December Daily and now I can totally see why. There is so much to capture throughout the month with photos and stories that you could easily fill up a separate mini PL book. Every year I plan hope to do a December Daily, but for me right now putting everything into one binder is working fine.
Of course what's December all about if it isn't the big day itself! This entire 2 page spread is dedicated to just documenting that day. The present opening, time with Nana and Bumpa and just being together as a family. It was truly a lovely day!
Morning coffee, fresh baked bread, the girls reaction to all the gifts that await them - Christmas morning is so magical!
I feel so good that I was able to plug away and finish my 2013 binder. Sure some months are lighter than others, but I'm totally fine with that. Having a casual easy-going approach to my documenting made the process fun and very rewarding in the end.
Currently I'm working on my January 2014 pages and my approach this year is the same. Document what I can, when I can. I promise to not fuss about the pictures being perfect, or what journal card I'm going to use, but instead I choose to find joy in the process and focus on the ultimate goal of telling our family's story.
I hope that you will see that Project Life can be easy and stress-free and most of all, I hope that you might be inspired to give it a try this year if you're not doing it already. You will not regret it!!
PS. I'm taking a course right now that has added an entire new dimension to my memory keeping which I am so crazy excited about and promise to be back really soon to share more!
PPS. I have a really bad head-cold today so please forgive me if this post is riddled with typos and grammatical errors, I don't have the engery to proof it. :-)
