This is the view from our living room into our dining room. The dining room hasn't come together as easily as the other rooms in the house because it's just so crazy big. The room is probably the biggest in the house and we aren't formal dining room people. Maybe it's because there are only 4 of us and we prefer to cozy around the kitchen island for our meals than sit in the dining room, so for us the dining room is kind of a waste of space.
We probably need a bigger dining room table to fill up the space because our current one just seems so small, but since we have plans to move in the near future that probably wouldn't be a wise idea. I guess we could consider using the room for something other than a dining room, but I'm not sure what I'd even use it for. So I'm guessing this tells me that we just don't need 2000+ sq ft in the first place and our family is much better suited to smaller spaces. :-)
I'm a big believer in using every inch of space in a home and if you have unused space it probably means it's time to downsize. After all, why pay for extra sq ft if you don't need it. Our last home was only 1150 sq ft and I think it fit us perfectly.
So how about you, do you have any unused or under used rooms in your house? How much square feet do you need to live comfortably?
