Hello blogging world! I know I've been MIA, but I needed to take a small break.
2012 was a really challenging year with the move, the renovation and this feeling of starting over, so during the Christmas break I made the decision to just stop and enjoy the time.
Unfortunately however, a few days after Christmas we lost our beloved cat, Bugsy. We got Bugsy at an animal shelter fundraiser shortly after my husband and I bought our first home, 16 years ago. At the time she was just a little kitten wearing a red ribbon sitting in a kissing booth display. The cost was $1 to kiss a kitten and once I picked her up I couldn't put her down. Needless to say she came home with us that day and I always thought of her as the start of 'us'. So on Dec. 28, 2012 it was very, very hard to let her go.
This was also the first time our girls ever experienced loss. Em took it really hard and would ask if Bugsy was coming home almost every day. We spent time looking at photos of Bugsy and sharing our stories. I was even blessed to discover that I had old scrapbook pages of her, this one being one of my favourites.
Going through the loss of Bugsy and finding the scrapbook pages, reminded me of how important it is to cherish all the moments of today and document them for tomorrow.
In my post before Christmas I talked a little about wanting to document our family life more. Well, during the holidays I started a Project Life book and titled it "The history of us 2013"!
I'm keeping my version of Project Life pretty casual. For example, I opted to not stick to a weekly documentation style. I decided if I wanted to keep things simple and have a more relaxed approach to it, I would just document things over a course of a month verses a week. So far so good! I take photos when I can during the month, make notes in a notebook and at the end of the month everything gets printed and added to my book.
How about you, are you doing Project Life, or a version of it, this year? If so, please share your approach to sticking to it and keeping it simple.
