Hello my lovely blogger friends! I am so super excited about 2012!! This year I decided to not only make a New Year's resolutions list, but to also put an action plan in place to help make it happen. So what are my resolutions...first, I kept them short.
- I want to practice and grow my photography skills.
- I want to do a better job at documenting and telling our family's story, especially my little munchkins stories.
So how do I plan to accomplish these goals? Well, that's a longer story and because I know many of you share the same interests I thought I'd share my plan of action with you and invite you all to take on this challenge with me! :-)
First, for my photography goal I am trying out 2 projects and if you guys are game I would love for you to also play along!

For the Photo Friday Challenge I will challenge myself to take one picture a week based on a theme. Each Friday I will post the theme right here on my blog and my take on it. This way if you want to play along you can! I figured a 52 week photo challenge would be much more manageable than my prior attempts at the photo a day challenge I've tried and failed. :(
Now what's this 10 on 10 Challenge you might be asking? Well, it's all about capturing those everyday things. You pick a day and take 10 photos throughout the day of anything you want; maybe it's a picture of what you ate for breakfast, or your trip to the grocery store, a book you're reading, or literally anything. This challenge is all about capturing, documenting and celebrating those everyday moments. I will post my 10 photos on the 10th of each month and would really love if you posted yours! We could then blog hop and gain inspiration and encouragement from everyone's 10 on 10.
Now here's where the rubber hits the road. You don't want to have all these great photos and stories just sitting in your camera or on your computer, so here's where the documenting part comes into play.

First you want to get your photo folders organized! I started a folder on my desktop called 2012 Photo Projects and in it I have two folders, a 52 Challenge folder and a 10 on 10 folder.

In each project folder I set up 2 additional folders for saving all my edited photos in, one folder is for the printable versions and one folder will hold the web versions for sharing online.
The next thing you'll need are a couple of photo albums, journaling cards, a binder and some page protectors.

I'm using my invitel.L photo albums for both my 52 Photo Friday Challenge and the 10 on 10 Challenge. In addition to printing out the photos as I go and putting them into my albums, I will be writing the story's behind the pictures on these fun journaling cards I bought from Paislee Press.

The final piece to my documenting project is a couple of American Crafts 12x12 albums and page protectors.

I will be using the binders for documenting more 'life' stuff that happens outside of my 52 photo challenge and the 10 on 10, and will talk more about this part of the project in a later post, but it will include some traditional and digital scrapbooking which I'm super excited about!
So what do you think? Can I persuade you to take this challenge with me? We will keep each other motivated and just think about the amazing albums you will have to look back on!!
Just to clarify, you DON'T need a fancy SLR camera to play along, any camera will do, even your handy-dandy camera phone. The photo challenges are more about documenting the moment, than taking a fancy photo.
So mark your calendars!
January 6 will be the first Photo Friday Challenge!
January 10th will be the first 10 on 10 Challenge!
And for those that read my blog for more of the home decor projects and stuff, well 2012 is shaping up to be a big year!! I don't have all the details confirmed yet, but over the next couple of months there could be some big changes on the homefront and I will be sure to share it all right here!!
Have a wonderful end to 2011 everyone! And I hope to see you all in the New Year!! :-)
