Well it's that time again...we are moving and it hasn't even been a full year since our last move. I think I'm now officially a moving and packing expert. :-) I'll be taking a bit of a blogging break, but promise to be back once we are settled in our new digs.

Today I'm in the mood for a little baking!! I've got the eggs out warming to room temperature and now I'm off to search my endless collection of cookbooks for something yummy to make! Are you a cookbook collector too? As of today my current favs are; Gwyneth Paltrow's My Father's Daughter, Canadian Living's The Complete Baking Book, Donna Hay's New Food Fast and Plenty (which is amazing!!).
So how about you, any cookbook collectors out there? If so, what's your favourite cookbook - I'm always on the search for a new book to try and maybe even add to my next Amazon order which already includes Relish and It's All Good. I'm so looking forward to trying out these two books!

The kitchen is definitely the room that underwent the biggest transformation in our entire house renovation and I couldn't be more happier with how it turned out. I wanted a kitchen that reflected a chef style layout with country farmhouse elements.
Inspired by a chef style approach to the kitchen I decided on an open shelf island for easy access to our daily dishes, a tight layout so everything I need is in arms-reach and wood countertops which are prefect for my love of baking.
The country farmhouse elements include the large ceramic farmer's sink, the decision to have no upper cabinets so everything is open and airy, and a simple shaker style door. If we were staying in the house I would have added open wood shelves on either side of the window above the sink, but we opted to not install them because the new owners are going to be installing uppers once they take possession. However, if you ask me the space is just too small for upper cabs and open shelves are the better way to go, but that's just my humble opinion. :-)
The kitchen maybe small, but for our family it was all we needed and I have really enjoyed my short time cooking and baking in it. The layout worked so perfectly for how I cook and it will probably be the one room I'll miss most when we move out...which is now just only weeks away!!!
